Your Questions, Our Expert Answers — everything you need to know before the hunt.

Do I need previous experience to drive a husky sled?

You don’t need any previous experience to join this tour. Before the safari begins, your guide will give you clear instructions on how to handle the sled, keep your balance, and communicate with the huskies. Two people share each husky sled—one drives while the other sits comfortably, and you can switch roles halfway. The ride is exciting and fast-paced, but we design it for beginners and families so that everyone can enjoy it safely. Children can sit in the sled, which makes it a memorable adventure for the whole family.

How physically demanding is the tour?

This adventure suits most travelers with a normal level of fitness. Driving a husky sled requires some balance and the ability to stand for about 30–40 minutes, while the reindeer ride offers a calm and relaxing experience. You will only walk short distances, mostly around the farm and between activities. We provide warm winter overalls and boots to keep you comfortable even in colder weather. As with all outdoor Arctic activities, dress in layers underneath the gear we provide to stay warm throughout the day.

What is the cultural aspect of this experience?

Beyond the activities, this tour offers a deeper connection to Lapland’s traditions. The reindeer ride introduces you to a way of travel that has been central to Sámi culture for centuries. Spending time in the teepee, warming up by the fire, and tasting fresh salmon soup is not just a meal but also an opportunity to hear stories about the Arctic lifestyle, reindeer herding, and how huskies became part of Lapland’s modern adventures. It is both an outdoor excursion and a cultural journey, allowing you to leave with new knowledge as well as memories.

What should I bring with me?

While winter clothing and boots are included, we recommend wearing warm base layers, a good pair of wool socks, gloves, and a hat. Bringing your camera is a must, as you’ll want to capture both the fast-paced husky ride and the serene reindeer sleigh journey. A small water bottle and some snacks for children can also be handy. Most importantly, bring an adventurous spirit—this tour is designed to give you the best of both worlds: adrenaline with huskies and serenity with reindeer, all wrapped up in an authentic Lapland experience.

Is food included?

Yes — a soup lunch at the reindeer farm is included. Hot drinks are served at both the husky and reindeer stops.

What if weather conditions change suddenly?

If trail or weather conditions change, we may adjust the route, timing, or order of activities. The safety and enjoyment of guests always come first.
